Spring has sprung here in Gig Harbor, Washington, and although we can’t always guarantee great weather this time of year, there are a lot of activities going on to help get you out and about. Below is a list of upcoming events that are sure to put you in the mood for the season, from gardening inspiration to live music and even a whole bunch of fun for the kids! EASTER EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Easter is coming up on Sunday, April 9, 2023, and if you’re looking for a place where the family can enjoy a nice meal together, the following are some great options.

Easter Egg Hunt @ Gateway Park 

Saturday, April 8, 2023 | 9:30am

KeyPen Parks will be hosting this free event again for the community. No registration required, just make sure you arrive early as it usually goes by fast!

Spring Egg Hunt @ Sehmel Homestead Park 

Saturday, April 8, 2023 | 10am - 2pm

Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Gig Harbor, kids will be able to enjoy an Easter egg hunt, crafts, music, and a chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. The event is free but make sure you register! It is also requested that each family bring a non-perishable food item for the food drive. 

Uptown Easter Egg Hunt @ Uptown Gig Harbor 

Saturday, April 8, 2023 | 10am - 11am

Bring your Easter basket and join the hunt! There will also be an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny.

Kitsap Live Steamers’ Opening Day & Easter Egg Hunt @ South Kitsap Regional Park 

Saturday, April 8, 2023 | 10am - 4pm

It’s opening day for the Kitsap Live Steamers! Free train rides will be given from 10am to 4pm (weather permitting), and the Easter Egg Hunt starts at 12pm (registration begins at 10am).

Gig Harbor Plant Swap @ Uptown Gig Harbor HomeGoods Parking Lot

Have extra seeds to share, or looking to introduce some new plants into your garden? Come join this free plant swap, where local gardeners can exchange plants, seeds, gardening accessories, and more. Check out their Facebook page for additional information.

Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden @ Sehmel Homestead Park 

Select Saturdays | 10am - 11am

Get in the mood for spring and hone your green thumb at these free community garden events. Learn about organic pest control on April 15th, accessible gardening and composting on May 13th, and container planting classes are available multiple dates from April through September.

Tea Blending Class @ Everything Tea Gig Harbor 

Saturday, April 15, 2023 | 2pm - 4pm

Learn how to make your own tea blends at Gig Harbor’s new tea shop! During this class you will find out about blending techniques for the best flavor and you’ll also be able to take home a box full of teas and other ingredients to make your own blends. You can register online or in-store.

Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup @ Skansie Brothers Park 

Saturday, April 29 & Sunday, April 30, 2023

Join others in the community for some friendly competition during the Gig Harbor Canoe and Kayak Racing Team’s 10th annual Paddlers Cup. All ages and skill levels are welcome and watercraft options include kayaks, canoes, dragon boats, and paddle boards. Learn more about the event or sign up to compete.

Join the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as they walk for a cause! More information can be found on the Washington chapter’s website.

The Community Table @ Uptown Gig Harbor Pavilion 

Saturday, May 6, 2023 | 6pm - 9pm

Help fight hunger in the community at this outdoor dinner fundraiser for local food programs and charities. More information and tickets for the events can be found on the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation’s website.

There Be Cellos Concert @ St. John’s Episcopal Church 

Sunday, May 7, 2023 | 3pm

Come see four cellists perform a variety of arrangements and music ranging from classical to pop and beyond. You can purchase tickets online or day-of at the concert.

Gig Harbor Beer Festival @ Uptown Gig Harbor Pavilion (21+ only) 

Saturday, May 20, 2023 | 12pm - 5pm

Enjoy drinks, live music, and games at this annual festival where you can sample brews from around the Puget Sound. Tickets are for sale on the festival’s website, and admission includes a pilsner cup and taster tokens (while supplies last).

Youth Chess Club @ the Gig Harbor Library 

Every Thursday | 5:45pm - 6:45pm

Kids from kindergarten through eighth grade can come learn concepts of the game as well as play chess with other kids. Open to all skill levels. More information is available on the library website.

Family Boat Building @ the Gig Harbor BoatShop 

Saturday, April 1 & Sunday, April 2, 2023

If you’ve ever wanted to build a boat that’s actually seaworthy, here’s your chance! Build your own 12-foot salt bay skiff with the assistance of a wooden boat expert provided for each team. At the conclusion you’ll be able to celebrate your hard work with a ceremonial launch and a row around the harbor. Ages 12 and up. Kids’ Art Night @ Ocean5

Wednesday, April 19, 2023 | 6pm

Recommended for ages seven and up, Artväna will be hosting a painting night just for the kids. Go here for more details and to purchase your tickets (registration includes a $10 voucher for the arcade!). 

Tales at the BoatShop 

Last Thursday of every month | 10:30am

Children up to eight years old (must be accompanied by an adult) are invited to story time and an activity at the Gig Harbor BoatShop! It’s free, and no registration is necessary to attend. 

Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden @ Sehmel Homestead Park 

Saturday, May 20, 2023 | 10:30am - 12pm
