Spring has almost sprung here in Gig Harbor, Washington, and although we can’t always guarantee great weather this time of year, there are a lot of activities going on to help you get out and about. Below is a list of upcoming events that are sure to put you in the mood for the season, from live music and happenings at the harbor to Easter egg hunts and a whole bunch of fun for the kids. Read on for all the details!
Easter Activities & Events in Gig Harbor
Easter is coming up on Sunday, March 31st, and if you’re looking for a place where the family can enjoy a nice meal together, the following are some great options. The egg hunt starts at 12pm (registration begins at 10am), and enjoy a free train ride while you’re there (weather permitting)!
March Events in Gig Harbor
St. Patrick’s Day will be here soon, and lots of activities with it! Head over to my blog post about what will be taking place around town, including 5Ks and half marathons, the annual parade in Bremerton, live music, and more.
Dock Walk: 1st and 4th Friday of the month | 4pm - 4:30pm
Wildside Walk: 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month | 10am - 11am
Learn about the harbor and the wildlife under the water in the twice-monthly Dock Walk and Wildside Walk. While free, a suggested donation is $2 per person or $5 per family.
The BoatShop does such an excellent job educating adults and children alike about Gig Harbor’s waterfront and history. They have a lot of opportunities for learning coming up, so take a look to see if anything strikes your fancy!
Community Boat Restoration Program (Saturdays @ 9am - 5pm) - Participants will work with master boatbuilder Tom Regan as he repairs, restores, or builds a boat.
Community Boat Restoration Program for Women (Wednesdays @ 9am - 12pm) - Women will learn from Jaime Storkman, boat maintenance specialist and BoatShop board member, as he walks them through a variety of tasks for repair or maintenance.
Young Hands, New Skills (Friday, March 15, 2024 @ Various times) - Kids aged 6 to 12 will have fun caulking, hammering, hand-sawing, and learning other boatwright skills. There will be time slots available between 9am and 2pm and each session should take about an hour.
Crew School (Tuesday, March 26 - Friday, March 29, 2024) - If you have ever considered the commercial fishing industry, this class is for you! Introducing students to purse seining, they will learn the basics of navigation, on-deck skills, and more. Three days of crew training will be followed by a USCG-approved safety course.
Tales at the BoatShop (Third Thursday of the month @ 10:30am) - This story time for kids up to 8 years old takes place once a month. Check the BoatShop’s Facebook page for the next date.

Murder Mystery Dinner (21+ event)
Friday, March 15, 2024 | 6pm
Don your best fashion from the 1990s and bring along your pop culture smarts to solve the evening’s murder mystery. Cocktails, dinner, and dessert are included. Get your tickets here.
Gig Harbor Peninsula Civic Orchestra
Saturday, March 16, 2024 | 7pm
Celebrating its 20th season, this community orchestra will be performing a variety of pieces, including classical, folk, and movie music. Admission is free but donations are always appreciated.

Support the local arts! The symphony has several spring concerts, including Transformation on Saturday, March 16th featuring Liszt Piano Concerto No. 2 and Beethoven Symphony No. 5, and Dreams & Dances on Saturday, April 20th including the Strauss horn concerto and music by De Falla and Kodály.
Symphony Tacoma's Mini Maestros
Select Sundays | 2:30pm
Mini Maestros is an interactive workshop geared for kids aged 2 through 8. Upcoming programs include Jungle Jams on March 17th, Wacky, Wild World of Percussion on April 21st, and Peter and the Wolf on April 28th. All sessions include an instrument petting zoo starting at 1:30pm.
Gig Harbor Flowers Farmers Market
Wednesdays, Starting March 20th | 9am - 2pm
Each Wednesday the Uptown pavilion will be full of flowers, compliments of the Gig Harbor Flower Farmers Guild. Stop by to say hello, browse the beautiful bouquets, and support these local growers.

Join others in the community for some friendly competition during the Gig Harbor Canoe and Kayak Racing Team’s 11th annual Paddlers Cup. Calling all chowder lovers for the 12th annual Chowder Social! Prepared by local chefs, there will be an array of different chowders to sample. The evening will also include salad, dessert, auctions, and live music. Tickets are available here.
