Total Donations for 2021 in Gig Harbor

I LOVE giving back to our community. There are so many incredible people, organizations, and businesses in Gig Harbor, and every year I like to do as much as possible to help support them in their work and mission. For 2021 we pledged to double our local giving, promising $40,000 to the Gig Harbor community. Well, my friends, I am beyond pleased to announce that last year we almost doubled THAT goal, with a total donation amount of $70,000!!! Read on for an overview of where every penny went, and here’s to an even better 2022!

Charities for Families

More than $9,000 was donated to these charities which help support families in need.

Harbor Hope - $5,235

The mission of the Harbor Hope Center is to improve the lives of homeless youth and at-risk students in the community through various programs which include providing a host home, mentoring, transportation, clothing, and food.

New Phoebe House - $3,000

For Pierce County mothers and children who have been affected by chemical dependency, the New Phoebe House helps support them by way of housing, treatment, and other services. Their ultimate goal is to reunify these mothers with their children through healing and an independent lifestyle.

Food Backpacks 4 Kids - $1,000

Food Backpacks 4 Kids desires to provide healthy food options to hungry children of families in need in Gig Harbor and on the Key Peninsula. They collect and distribute food at three drive-by locations and with backpacks and food pantries in local elementary, middle, and high schools.

Communities in Schools - $300

Partnering with nine Peninsula District schools, Communities in Schools connects kids with adult mentors and other resources in the community, aiming to encourage students to persevere in their studies and overcome obstacles to success in life.

Other

Our remaining donations of over $9,000 were distributed to three other types of organizations in the community: one third went towards 25 different funds for teachers; another third provided support for local youth organizations such as sports leagues and boy scouts; and the last third went to other charities in the Gig Harbor area.

In closing, I want to give a huge shout-out to all of my clients. Thank you for YOUR support and for trusting me with all your home needs in 2021, as all of these opportunities to give back to our community would not have been possible without you!
