2025 Kids’ Summer Camps in Gig Harbor & Beyond

It might seem way too early to be thinking about Kid’s Summer Camps in Gig Harbor already.  But ready or not, summer camps do fill up quickly, so you better act fast! Read on for all that is offered in Gig Harbor and the surrounding area, and with options from sports and robotics to art, music, and everything in-between, there’s sure to be something to excite kiddos of all ages and interests.

Art & Music Camps

Apprentice Academy - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: Various
Dates: July

An art school founded by local sculptor Mardie Rees, they usually offer several camps in drawing and sculpting each summer. Check back on March 1st for more information on dates and registration.

AR Workshop - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: 7 - 14
Dates: June - August

Morning and afternoon sessions are available, and kids can choose from art camps with themes including popstars, paint portfolio series, sewing, holiday, and the favorites series.

Open Arts Studio - Tacoma, WA

Ages: 5½ - 14
Dates: June 16th – August 29th

These art camps give kids the opportunity to learn pottery, drawing, cooking, and more. Different classes are usually offered weekly, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Registration opens on February 15th.

Peacock Paisley Art Studio - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: Various
Dates: TBD

Learn to paint and work with clay, among other activities. There are usually a lot of summer camps to choose from, so check back later for specifics.

Stitch-O-Roo & Art Too - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: 7 - 16
Dates: TBD

In the past, this studio in downtown Gig Harbor has offered a wide variety of summer camps, including pottery and clay, sewing and embroidery, knitting and crocheting, and cooking. Check  their website and mailing this for upcoming registration and details!

Puget Sound Brass Camp - Tacoma, WA

Ages: 12 - 18
Dates: June 23rd  - 27th

Learn from university faculty at this week-long camp, where brass players will be able to meet other musicians their age, play in both large and small ensembles, master new skills, participate in masterclasses, and more. The camp will conclude with a final performance.

Evergreen Music Festival - Various Locations

Session 1: Pacific Lutheran University - Tacoma, WA

  • Ages: entering grades 2 - 8

  • Dates: July 14th – 18th

Session 2: Central Washington University - Ellensburg, WA

  • Ages: entering grade 9 - age 21 

  • Dates: July 20th- 26th

The Tacoma Youth Symphony Association is hosting two sessions this summer: Session 1 is for younger students and will consist of daily rehearsals, music theory classes, demonstrations, and exploratory music periods, while Session 2 is an overnight camp for older students and offers daily orchestra rehearsals, music theory, chamber music, and lectures. Both sessions will conclude with final concerts.

Hammond Ashley Bass Workshop - Tacoma, WA

Ages: Various
Dates: June 30th – July 3rd

Learn from renowned double bassist Jeff Bradetich and teachers throughout the state in this workshop for all ages and levels of experience. Classes will cover technique, chamber music, faculty recitals, masterclasses, and more. There will also be instruction for school music teachers wanting to improve their knowledge of the bass.

Live It OutLoud - Tacoma, WA

Ages: 12 - 18
Dates: June - August

Sponsored by Ted Brown Music, this 8-week camp pairs non-professional musicians with each other to form a band that will then be coached by professional mentors. Go here for more information and to sign up.

Summer Jazz Orchestra - Tacoma, WA

Ages: entering grade 8 - age 21
Dates: July 31st- August 3rd

Students will learn about blending jazz and symphonic styles in this workshop including guest performances, rehearsals, and a final performance.

Kitsap Forest Theater - Bremerton, WA

Ages: entering kindergarten - grade 8
Dates: July & August

Kids entering kindergarten through fourth grade can participate in the Adventure Camps in July, which will offer fun including drama, art, hiking, and exploring the great outdoors. For students entering grades five through eight there will be a Theater Camp in August, where campers will get a chance to create a theater production and perform it at the end of camp.

Tacoma Musical Playhouse - Tacoma, WA

Ages: entering grade 1 - recent graduates
Dates: July & August

Shows performed during summer camp will be announced on February 17th with registration opening on March 3rd, so check their website for all the details.

Robotics & STEM Camps

Bricks 4 Kidz - Various Locations

Ages: 4 - 14
Dates: TBD

Kids can spend the summer with hands-on activities from robotics, video game design, making videos, and more! Registration isn’t open yet, but you can ask to be notified when camp sign ups begin. Camp specifics and opening enrollment dates for each location will be listed on this page.

Camp Tech Revolution - Seattle, WA

Ages: 6 - 16
Dates: June - August

Taking place at the University of Washington, a variety of camps are available for coding, computer skills, robotics, and so much more. Go here to learn more and sign up.

Snapology - Various Locations

Summer fun with subjects including robotics, coding, and STEAM. Weekly camps include half- and full-day options, and there are one-day workshops available also. Check out their upcoming offerings (summer camps may not all be listed yet).

Beard Swim Co. - Gig Harbor, WA

Canterwood - Gig Harbor, WA

Get in the game! Members are invited to take part in junior programs for golf, tennis, and swimming. Check back in for details and registration!

Gig Harbor Junior Sailing - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: 6 - 18
Dates: June - August

Their Summer Sail Camp offers both half-day and full-day week-long camps and teaches the basics as well as builds on previous experience. If you’re not sure what group is best for your sailor, take a look at their page detailing each of their programs. Registration opens February 1st, and updates are available by joining their interest list.

Redline Athletics - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: Various
Dates: June - August

They haven’t posted their 2025 summer camp offerings yet, but in the past they have had multi-sport options as well as sport-specific ones. Keep checking their Instagram for updated information. 

Skyhawks Sports Camps - Various Locations

Ages: 2 & up
Dates: Various

Offering a range of sports camps for soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, lacrosse, basketball, multi-sport camps, STEM options, and more. You can search by location, sport, age, and month (not all sports are available for all ages and locations).

Other Camps

Annie Wright Schools - Tacoma, WA

Ages: entering grades 1 - 9
Dates: TBD

Open to students at any school, Annie Wright offers half-day and full-day arts and athletic camp options for grades 1 - 6 and athletic camps for students entering grades 7 - 9. 

Camp Gallagher - Lakebay, WA

Ages: grades 7 - 12
Dates: June - August

Spend the day doing crafts, playing games, and having fun on the water before gathering around the campfire at night. Besides their Classic Camp they have other programs they offer as well. Dates for 2025 are already open, so don’t wait to register!

Charles Wright Academy - Tacoma, WA

Ages: grades 1 - 12
Dates: June - August

Besides half- and full-day sessions there will be options from STEM to theater for grades 1 - 7, and grades 8 and up can participate in their leadership offerings. 

Fort Nisqually Living History Museum - Tacoma, WA

Ages: 6 - 14
Dates: July & August

Make history this summer! Kids can explore games, music, crafts, and more through a variety of camps available. Fort members can register beginning March 24th, and registration for the general public opens March 31st.

GGHF Curious By Nature School - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: Various
Dates: TBD

Kids can have fun while exploring the outdoors, playing games, learning about STEAM topics, and more. Stay tuned for their preview of upcoming summer programs.

Gig Harbor Academy - Gig Harbor, WA

Gig Harbor BoatShop - Gig Harbor, WA

With four different camp levels available for preschool to high school, join Kristin and Kip Otteson in activities ranging from exploring the harbor, learning the basics of sailing, tying knots, using a compass, and more. Check back here for 2025 details and updates!

Harbor Montessori School - Gig Harbor, WA

Information on  their 2025  summer program is coming soon! In the past years it has combined regular Montessori classroom time with summer fun, featuring a different theme each week. 

Miracle Ranch - Port Orchard, WA

Have some wild west fun at CRISTA Camp’s Miracle Ranch. With a religious emphasis, it’s a great place to meet new people as well as be refreshed and encouraged. They have lots of different camps to choose from, with activities ranging from arts and crafts to sports and fun on the water.

PenMet Parks - Various Locations

Ages: Various

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium - Tacoma, WA

Ages: preschool - 11th grade graduates
Dates: June - August

The zoo and aquarium offer multi-day camps for kids of all ages! Registration for zoo members begins on March 11th, general registration opens on March 13th, and for qualifying scholarships, applications are due by March 2nd. Have questions? Check out their FAQ page.

YMCA - Various Locations

Ages: 3 - 13
Dates: June - August

Local YMCAs offer a variety of summer camps, including half-day and full-day camps as well as summer camps at your local school. You can browse all available camps on the Registration page (select “Camp” under “Categories” in the left-hand menu).

YMCA Camp Seymour - Various Locations

Day Camp at Lake Helena - Port Orchard, WA

Ages: entering grades 1 - 8
Dates: June - August

Have fun with activities like boating, archery, crafts, music, and more. Transportation is available from pickup locations in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and Port Orchard.

Overnight Camp - Gig Harbor, WA

Ages: entering grades 3 - 12
Dates: July & August

Recreation for lower grades includes sports, crafts, and outdoor adventures, while activities for higher grades focus more on team building, leadership, and personal growth.
