Local Whimsy is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Caasi Dickens and Salena Ausburn. Caasi Dickens is a lifelong creative whose company Caasi Lee Designs sells PNW inspired wood and resin art. The wife and mother of five also founded Local Makers, a thriving artisanal community that gathers local small businesses together in organized neighborhood events and markets. Salena Ausburn, a wife and mother of three daughters, owns Wild Whimsy Plant Co., a shop that provides a wide variety of premium plants and pots of every size to enliven any home or office, complete with design services and workshops. With Caasi dreaming of a retail location for Local Makers and Salena desiring to expand her business into a full-blown plant shop and gift shop, the concept of Local Whimsy was born.
Minimal meets whimsical in the bright, airy retail space of Local Whimsy where customers are encouraged to gather, create, and shop. With fresh brands and unique products from dozens of Washington and Gig Harbor small businesses and artisans, Caasi and Salena have meticulously designed a shopping experience that embodies and supports the voice and style of the PNW and our small town community. Local Whimsy has something for everyone whether an original engraved gift for a loved one, an imaginative toy for a child, a one-of-a-kind functional art piece, a handmade self-care product, a beautifully potted plant, or one of the many other quality on-trend offerings of the shop. Local Whimsy is also a gathering space where you can attend informative and creative workshops hosted by regional educators and makers, sit and relax with friends, host your own event, or explore your creative side by finishing a DIY kit.
