Swimming Pools & Splash Pads In Gig Harbor & Beyond

Rain or shine, we take summer fun seriously here in the Pacific Northwest. And seeing that the heat is on its way, you can stay cool (or escape a few summertime showers!) at one of our public outdoor or indoor swimming pools. With features like lazy rivers, heated whirlpools, water slides, pool rentals, and spraygrounds, these pools and parks offer family fun all summer long.

IN GIG HARBOR

Beard Swim Co.  

Founded and directed by Olympic medalist Amanda Beard, Beard Swim Co. has their own facility and offers a variety of options for classes and lessons.

Canterwood Golf & Country Club  

You don’t have to be a resident to use Canterwood’s amazing amenities, but you will need to become a member of the club to gain access to their heated outdoor pool. Recreational swimming is offered at various hours so be sure to check the website for the schedule!

Tom Taylor YMCA 

The YMCA has an indoor pool and aquatic center where they have options for lap swimming, open swim time, and classes. Be sure to look at the schedule for when each will be offered. You have the option of becoming a member of the Y for a monthly fee, or you can purchase a family day pass for $35!

OUTSIDE GIG HARBOR

Fircrest Swimming Pool - Tacoma 

Right over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge is the heated outdoor Fircrest Pool in Tacoma. They offer season passes and pool punch cards. For registration information and the summer pool schedule check out their website.

Kandle Park - Tacoma

Just a 15-minute drive from Gig Harbor, Kandle Park stands out from the rest with their outdoor wave pool, which will be opening on Friday, July 5, 2024. Lap swimming for adults is also available. See this page for hours and fees. The nearby sprayground is open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm (after September 6th it will only be open on weekends).

Stewart Heights Pool - Tacoma

This is the place to go, with a lazy river, 160-foot water slide, bubble pool, tumble buckets, lap swimming for adults, and more. Opening Friday, July 5, 2024. See their website for fees and hours.

Kitsap Tennis & Athletic Center - Bremerton 

This pool is a saltwater heated pool. Memberships are available but not required, and a public swim time is offered several days of the week. Check their website for more information on prices and schedule.

Olympic Aquatic Center - Bremerton 

Located inside Olympic High School this pool offers lap swimming, recreational swims, swim lessons, and even an Intro to Swim Team program. More information on their calendar, registration, and prices can be found on their website.

Haselwood Family YMCA - Silverdale

If you want to travel a little further up to Silverdale, the Haselwood YMCA has a lazy river for you and your nuggets to play in, along with the usual pool and hot tub. You can become a member of the Y for a monthly fee, or a family day pass is available for $35.

Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center - Bainbridge Island

This pool may be a bit of a drive, but it is well worth the adventure out to Bainbridge Island. The indoor facility has it all with two swimming pools, two diving boards, two waterslides, a lazy river, and even a “beach.” You can find the schedule here. Daily, monthly, and family passes are available.

Splash Pads & Spraygrounds

Gateway Park - Gig Harbor

Gateway Park’s splash pad is open daily from 10am to 6pm up through Labor Day weekend (weather permitting). For rules and more information check out their website.

Skansie Brothers Park - Gig Harbor

The splash pad right in downtown is usually on from 11am to 6pm during the summer, except during the concerts in the park.

Point Ruston - Tacoma

Head over to Point Ruston’s Grand Plaza and Spray Park! It is on 7 days a week from 12pm to 10pm (unless there is a special event). And don’t miss the fountain light show that begins at dusk!

Metro Parks Tacoma

There are quite a few spraygrounds throughout Tacoma, and all are open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm (after September 6th they will only be open on weekends). Check out the list to find which ones are closest to you, or make it a fun summer adventure to visit them all!
