Gig Harbor Guide to 4th of July Fireworks

Gig Harbor Guide to 4th of July Fireworks on a picture of fireworks

FIREWORKS + WATER VIEWS = BEST FIREWORKS EVER!

I’ve compiled a list of the best fireworks shows in the south Sound so you can celebrate the 4th with family, friends, and fireworks. The great news is not all of the shows are happening on the actual holiday, so you’ll be able to enjoy the festivities for days on end! Remember to arrive early in order to snag the best viewing, and be safe!

Fireworks Shows

Fox Island | Monday, July 3, 2023

Starting at 7:30pm on July 3rd the yacht club will be hosting a picnic and fireworks for its members. If you’re not a member and can’t join the festivities at the club, you might still be able to see the fireworks from various points across Hale Passage or the Carr Inlet.

Point Ruston | Tuesday, July 4, 2023

Tacoma’s 4th of July Summer Blast will be offering two locations to enjoy all the festivities of beer gardens, live music and entertainment, and over 150 vendors. Cummings Park will also offer free kids’ activities as part of their Family Zone. The holiday’s finale will begin at about 10pm with a fireworks show over Commencement Bay, which will be visible from all of the Ruston Way waterfront. See the Tacoma Summer Blast website for a complete schedule, music lineup, road closures, and more.

If you want to enjoy the fireworks by boat, Destiny Harbor Tours has excursions leaving from Gig Harbor and Tacoma. Go to their website to book today.

Buying Fireworks

Due to safety and other concerns, this will be the first year that fireworks are banned within the Gig Harbor city limits. Fireworks are allowed in Pierce County outside of Gig Harbor’s city limits, but only on July 4th. Check out the list below for some fireworks stands and stores in the broader area, and for information on permits and more, go to the Pierce County website
