The Harbor Fish Company
Let Gig Harbor's top real estate agent, Paige Schulte, walk you through town and introduce you to the small business owners of Gig Harbor. Gig Harbor boasts a vibrant downtown scene lined with local business owners along with delicious eats from Uptown to Downtown Gig Harbor.
Alex James’s passion for the environment started when she was young, grew with time, and inspired her academic pursuits in ecological studies. She earned an undergraduate degree in Ecology and Organismal Biology and a master’s in Environmental Studies. Alex has spent time working in environmental education and conservation centered on protecting Washington's agricultural and wild lands.
Zack Worrell was born and raised in South Puget Sound where he cultivated a love for fishing as a young boy in the bays, creeks, and inlets of the greater Gig Harbor area. In college Zack earned a degree in Construction Management, but after several summers working on fishing boats in Alaska, he decided to chase his dream and joined the Southeast Alaska fishing fleet in 2013. Every May, Zack leaves Gig Harbor for the cold waters of Juneau where he and a deckhand harvest wild salmon.
Combining Zack’s professional tenure as a commercial fisherman and Alex’s knowledge in conservation and agriculture, the pair launched The Harbor Fish Company in February 2022 as a way to bring high-quality, fisherman-direct, wild-caught salmon to Gig Harbor. The Harbor Fish Company is an online store that offers wild-caught salmon sustainably sourced from the pristine waters of Lynn Canal. Every King, Sockeye, and Coho salmon is caught and hand-selected by Zack for its size, quality, and health and then fresh-frozen or hot-smoked with Alder wood. Salmon burgers, salmon pâté, and Alaskan black cod are also available. The Harbor Fish Company provides local deliveries and regional pick-up at various convenient locations in Gig Harbor.
Alex and Zack have incorporated a conservation ethic into their business and are committed to furthering sustainable business practices. They support and donate to organizations whose work entails salmon habitat restoration including Harbor WildWatch and Wild Salmon Center. They partner with many local small businesses and participate in farmers markets and other community events such as the Gig Harbor Lighted Boat Parade and the Harbor WildWatch Chum Fest.
