Docks for Day Trips
Gig Harbor and Tacoma provide lots of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks while enjoying a day out on the water.
Gig Harbor
There are two public docks that offer free short-term moorage. They are both in the south end of the harbor so if your destination is further north you will have a little bit of a trek, but everything at the waterfront is still within reasonable walking distance.
Eddon Boat Park - Dock your boat for up to 2 hours.
Jerisich Dock - Free moorage during the day (moorage fees apply if you connect to power or water on the dock or stay overnight between 8pm and 8am).
Options for dining and drinks:
Anthony’s at Gig Harbor - They have a private dock that is available for restaurant guests (moorage is on a first come, first serve basis). To find them, look for the Shorline sign.
Tides Tavern - You can use their private dock while dining in-house or to pick up a to-go order. Dockside service is available on the weekends in summer from 12pm - 8pm (weather permitting). The restaurant is a 21+ establishment, but kids of any age are allowed on the dock.
7 Seas Brewing - Customers can use the brewery's docks for up to two hours.
Other
Point Defiance Marina - With additional mooring available at the public boat launch, there are a couple nearby restaurants and several others accessible by foot if you’re up for a little bit of a walk.
Point Ruston (multiple dining options)
Tacoma Narrows Marina - This dock offers complimentary three-hour guest moorage for day-use visitors, and it’s just steps away from these eateries.
Boat Launches
The following boat launches are free to use and hours are dawn to dusk year-round (no restrooms on site).
East Gig Harbor - Randall Drive
Horsehead Bay - 36th Street NW (only place to launch at low tide)
Point Fosdick - 10th Street NW (limited use due to traction issues)
Wollochet Bay - 37th Street NW
Lakebay, Key Peninsula - 72nd Street KPS
Lakebay, Key Peninsula - A Street NW
Vaughn, Key Peninsula - Hall Road NW
Other:
Fox Island - 2607 Fox Island Bridge Road (Gig Harbor side)
Fox Island - 203 3rd Avenue Fi (Fox Island side)
Purdy Sand Spit - The approach for launching is next to the main road and can be tight, but it is convenient access to Cutts Island and the waterway down the Key Peninsula.
