Late Spring & Early Summer Events 2023 in Gig Harbor

They say Memorial Day is the unofficial kickoff to summer, and with Memorial Day weekend just over a week away, that means summer is almost here! There’s a great lineup this year with events and activities all around Gig Harbor, and with the broad range of happenings taking place you’re sure to find something that everyone in the family will enjoy. So check out the list, put some fun stuff on the calendar, and make it a great summer!

June Events

Maritime Gig Festival 

Saturday, June 3 & Sunday, June 4, 2023 | Various Times

This highly anticipated annual event is coming up! Saturday will feature the Family Fun Run and Free Kid’s Dash, the Maritime Gig Grande Parade, a variety of live music, and vendor booths for businesses, crafts, food, and a children’s fair. Events on Sunday include the Wheels on the Water Car Show, more live music, and the Blessing of the Fleet. Check out the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce website for all the information you’ll need, including the lineup of events, parade route and street closures, and registration.

Make Music Day

Wednesday, June 21, 2023 | 1pm - 9pm

Listen to live music all day long! If you are a musician yourself, bring your instrument and join the parade at 1pm. After that, there will be four different stages throughout the pavilion offering a variety of music. It’s a free event, so all you need to bring is a chair. Family Fun Fest and Bike Bash

Saturday, June 24, 2023 | 11am - 4pm

Celebrate the beginning of summer with the whole family. Besides the Bike Bash and a Health and Safety Fair there will also be food trucks, live music, crafts, games, and more! Additional information will be put on the PenMet Parks website, so be sure to check back later.

Gig Harbor Garden Tour 

Saturday, June 24 & Sunday, June 25, 2023

Enjoy the beauty of various gardens throughout the greater Gig Harbor area. Tickets for this self-guided tour can be purchased online or will be available at several stores around town starting Memorial Day weekend. With your ticket you will be given a booklet with directions to and descriptions of each garden.

All In “Fore” Kids Golf Tournament 

Monday, June 26, 2023 | 10am 

Participate in the 3rd annual tournament hosted by Communities in Schools. There will be a boxed lunch, silent auction, banquet, and more, all for a good cause. More information and registration can be found online.

July Events

Summer Sips at Uptown (21+ event) 

Saturday, July 8, 2023 | 12pm - 6pm

Taste a variety of local libations, from wine and beer to cider, kombucha, and more! There will be live music, food options from Uptown eateries, and even a Pop-Up Bottle Shop where you can purchase some of your new favorite finds. For tickets, music lineup, and more information go to the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation’s website.

Uptown Sidewalk Sale 

Friday, July 14 - Sunday, July 16, 2023 | 10am - 6pm

Join various merchants throughout the Uptown Gig Harbor shopping center for a sidewalk sale!

Peninsula Art League Summer Art Festival

Saturday, July 15 & Sunday, July 16, 2023 | Saturday: 10am - 6pm, Sunday: 10am - 5pm

This year will be the Peninsula Art League’s 37th annual festival! Stroll along Judson Street in downtown Gig Harbor and visit the more than 120 booths featuring artisans from the Pacific Northwest as well as around the country. Besides art there will be food, music, a kid’s corner, local art show, and an area for authors and illustrators. 

Summer Swing Golf Tournament 

Friday, July 28, 2023 | 11am

In its 36th year, this tournament is a great way to make contacts and meet potential clients with players coming from all business backgrounds. The format will be a four-person scramble, and besides the game and a golf cart the cost includes lunch, beer, and dinner. You can register as a team or an individual.

Waterfront Farmers Market

Thursdays, June 1 - September 14, 2023 | 1pm - 6pm 

Nothing says “summer” like a farmers market, and opening day for the Waterfront Farmers Market is coming up on Thursday, June 1st! Happening every Thursday through early September, come by boat or foot and see all there is to choose from—food, flowers, artisan specialties, crafts, and more. Each week there will be a different theme and musical entertainment, too

Uptown Summer Concert Series 

Thursdays, July 6 - August 10, 2023 | 6pm - 8pm

It’s the annual series of free summer concerts at Uptown Gig Harbor. Check back later for the lineup of bands that will be performing.

Summer Sounds at Skansie 

Tuesdays, July 11 - August 29, 2023 | 6pm - 8pm

Enjoy live music right on the water. There’s no charge, just bring a picnic or pick up food from a local restaurant, and don’t forget a chair or blanket. Check out the music schedule here.

Waterfront Walking Tours 

Wednesdays & Saturdays | Wednesdays: 5:30pm - 6:30pm, Saturdays: 10am - 12pm

Offered twice a week during the summer, this local highlight is back after a three-year break! Join the tour on Wednesday evenings to learn about the harbor’s history and culture, and tours on Saturday mornings focus on the natural history at the waterfront. The first tour is on Saturday, June 10th, and the season will wrap up on Wednesday, August 30th. 

Live at Olalla Vineyard & Winery 

Select Fridays | 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Enjoy live music as you sip your wine. Take a look at the schedule for a list of upcoming artists.

Community Boat Restoration Program 

Saturdays | 9am - 5pm

Learn about and assist with building, repairing, and restoring boats. For more information and to register, go to the Gig Harbor BoatShop’s website.

Tours at the Eddon Boatyard 

Saturdays | 11:30am - 2:30pm

Every Saturday you can take part in a free tour of the Gig Harbor BoatShop’s Eddon Boatyard. Learn the history of this waterfront site as well as how it continues to serve the community today.

Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden

Get in the mood for summer and hone your green thumb at these free community garden events. Garden talks are offered one Saturday a month, container planting classes are available multiple dates through September, master gardener clinics are held every Saturday in the spring and summer, and several youth workshops will be happening as well.
