From boat tours to kayak rentals and beyond, there are lots of options in and around Gig Harbor that will guarantee you a great time without the worry or extra work. Read on for all the details!

Boat Tours

Cruise Hobbes

Enjoy a variety of experiences on this 42-foot sailing yacht, including a dinner and cocktail cruise, day adventure, or an overnight sail for couples. Hourly charters for up to six people are also available. 

Destiny Harbor Tours & Riviera Cruises

Destiny Harbor Tours offers sightseeing, history, wildlife, and ecology tours starting from Gig Harbor or Tacoma. Private charters for up to 33 people are also available, as well as trips to see fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Their sister company, Riviera Cruises, provides charters for parties and weddings, sunset cruises, guided sightseeing tours, and Fourth of July fireworks tours. Their private bookings can accommodate up to 34 people.

Gig Harbor Boats top

Step back in time on the beautiful Veteran, a restored classic wooden fishing boat, as you cruise to the Tacoma Narrows or Blake Island. This private adventure can accommodate up to six people and includes food and drinks.

Gig Harbor Gondola  

Be transported to the dreamy world of Italy without going further than the harbor. Gig Harbor Gondola, the only such operation in the Pacific Northwest, offers 60- and 90-minute rides for up to six people. Feel free to bring your own food and bubbly to enjoy as you sit back and relax.

On Time Tours & Charters

All tours with On Time are private and can accommodate up to six people. Cruise around Gig Harbor, the Tacoma Narrows, and more, or choose a wildlife tour or custom charter. For an extra special experience, schedule your trip around sunrise or sunset!

These websites offer lots of rental options in Gig Harbor and the surrounding local area. Some provide captains if needed, others only rent boats with the captain included.

Docklyne

Docklyne is a great resource for finding professional boat rentals in the general area. Just choose your location and start looking for your next ride!

Gig Harbor BoatShop

Cruise around the harbor in an electric launch, wooden canoe, or rowboat. No boating license required, and members receive a 50% discount on rentals. Open seasonally.

Gig Harbor Electric Boat Rentals

Take up to eight people on one of these 18-foot Duffy electric boats, which you can even skipper yourself. Open seasonally. 

Gig Harbor Fly Shop

The fly shop offers several rental options for fishing watercraft, including waders with boots. Or, if you’re not sure where to start, check out the multitude of guided fishing trips they host, from local half-day trips to multi-day international trips! 

Houseboat Rentals

Although you won’t be able to take any of these out of the harbor, renting a houseboat is a great idea for vacations, special occasions, or just because. Many are listed on Airbnb and Vrbo, but here are a few local options to get you started.

Other

Freedom Boat Club 

With local ports in Tacoma and Port Orchard, this club offers a variety of membership levels, free training for all its members, and unlimited boat usage at your home port (selection of available boats varies by location). Year-round members also have reciprocal privileges at other Freedom Boat Club locations.

Point Defiance Marina 

Spend a day on the water in one of the marina’s 14-foot motor boats. Rods and nets are also available to rent if your adventure includes fishing. Operations are open year-round and each boat can fit up to four adults. 

West Sound Sport Boat Rentals

If you want to make some waves on the lake, rent a recreational boat from West Sound. They will even deliver right to where you are! They currently only offer Sea-Doos, but check back later for pontoon and wake boat rental options.

Kayak & SUP Rentals

Gig Harbor

Deadmans Island Kayak & SUP 

This outfit offers kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, delivered! Rent your watercraft for a half day, full day, or for over 24 hours, or choose from several different adventures you can take with your tour guide, Scotty the Red.

Gig Harbor Fly Shop

Besides paddleboards you can also rent pedal-driven kayaks built for one to four people. If you want to make the most of your time on the water, they offer paddleboard clinics and other options, from half-day tours of Fox Island to full-day tours of the Hood Canal. 

Lee’s SUP & Kayak Rentals 

Although they are only open seasonally, they now offer pre-season reservations (March - June) for kayaks, paddleboards, or guided tours.

Tacoma

Foss Harbor Marina 

This marina has rentals year-round for single kayaks, double kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. Check out their interactive map for kayaking and start planning your adventure!

Point Defiance Marina 

Open seasonally, you can rent a single or tandem kayak at Owen Beach. Guided kayaking tours are also available; check out the Metro Park’s Outdoor Adventures page for more information.
